Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Covered with Swastikas in Blood, Law Enforcement Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Police
Officers reported they were alerted by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored fluid

Around fifty automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Law enforcement then found numerous other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Officials say initial examinations show the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no clue as to where it came from; investigators are not yet aware of any injuries in association with the incident," they stated.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to unravel the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.

A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and had to be addressed promptly.

"This act affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he posted on a platform, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman aiming at people of migrant background in February 2020.
